Eindhoven Airport welcomes 5 millionth passenger

Brabant gives home to the second-largest airport in the Netherlands and continues to invest in its infrastructure. And with great results: never before have so many people flew in and out of Eindhoven Airport in one year. The milestone of 5 million passengers is reached and it is expected that the airport will reach 5.7 million by the end of 2017.

The Eindhoven region is the fastest growing region of the Netherlands in 2017. In order to keep up with this growth, Eindhoven airport has developed itself as an airport that is important for everyone: from business to leisure.

“It’s a special day for Eindhoven Airport”, says Flip Estourgie, director of Eindhoven Airport N.V. “For the first time since its establishment in 1936, our airport has reached a new record of 5 million passengers.”

The accessibility of the airport is important in order to serve these passengers. Deputy Christophe van der Maat says: “An easily accessible airport is an important gateway for Brabant. The province invests in improving the accessibility of the airport by car and public transport.” These investments are already visible: a new bus terminal is currently under construction at the airport. Additionally, Eindhoven airport will invest €100 million between 2016 and 2020 to ensure faster and smarter access. These investments will contribute to the improvement of the infrastructure of Brabant.

“The investments fit in with the ambition we have as a province to improve international accessibility of Brabant through multiple transport modalities” Christophe van der Maat, Deputy of the province Noord-Brabant
